Historical dance is an essential discipline in the development of the future ballet artist. It helps young dancers develop their stage presence, coordination and elegance, which will later translate into the stage presence of a professional ballerina.
Historical Dance teaches dancing in pairs with a partner, which is usually the first time children learn to dance with someone of the opposite sex. In pre-ballet classes, the girls usually dance on their own, but when they start their Historical Dance training, they are suddenly dancing with a cavalier.
The course also involves interaction with costumes and props, teaching dance students multiple new dances, such as the Waltz, French Quadrille and others, and developing their expressive skills and techniques which will greatly benefit their future development as professional ballet artists.
